WHO WE ARE
Syrian Expatriates Organization is a non-profit educational organization registered in the USA and includes Syrians living in many countries, outside Syria. In early 2011, a group of Syrian expatriates, inspired by the Arab Spring, got together to discuss the future of Syria, as it seemed inevitable that Syria would be affected by the events taking place in the rest of the Middle East.
On March 2011, as the Syrian Revolution began, the group quickly geared its efforts towards supporting the struggle of the Syrian people in their quest for freedom, democracy, and reform. The coalition of expatriates gained momentum and its membership grew, and eventually was registered as an active non-profit organization in the USA. SEO became a mean through which expatriates could support the revolution in their motherland. As the months passed by, and as the peaceful demonstrations in Syria were being met with brutality and extreme violence, the Syrian Expatriates Organization’s work evolved into several action groups with projects aiming to shine the light on the events taking place inside Syria to the world media, as well as supporting the activists on the ground.
The short term goal of the Syrian expatriates organization is to continue the support of the Syrian people in their struggle logistically by providing different tools of telecommunication to the activists on the ground to help cover the atrocities committed by the regime. In addition, SEO will continue to provide humanitarian and medical aid to the injured. Other projects of SEO will continue to explore channels of outreach to media and decision makers whether by organizing demonstrations,or advocacy campaigns to expand the international reaction towards the crimes against the Syrian people.
As for the long term goal, the Syrian Expatriates Organization foresees continuing to support the Syrian people as they rebuild Syria, and reestablish the concept of citizenship that was long missing in Syria for the past few decades.
المغتربون السوريون هي منظمة لا ربحية تضم سوريين مغتربين في كافة أنحاء العالم, تشكلت نواتها في مطلع عام 2011 حيث قامت مجموعة من المغتربين السوريين بالتجمع والتشاور حول مستقبل سوريا في ظل ثورات الربيع العربي, حيث من الجلي أن سوريا لابد أن تتأثر بما يجري في باقي منطقة الشرق الأوسط.
في آذار/مارس 2011 ومع بداية الحراك السوري؛ قامت تلك المجموعة بحشد جهودها لتقدم ما يمكنها من دعم للشعب السوري في كفاحه من أجل الحرية والديمقراطية و الإصلاح. وسرعان ما اكتسبت المجموعة زخما و ازداد عدد أعضائها و غدت المجموعة منظمة لا ربحية مسجلة في الولايات المتحدة ووسيلة يستطيع المغتربون السوريون من خلالها المشاركة في دعم الثورة الشعبية السلمية. بمرور الشهور وبالترافق مع الوحشية التي ووجهت بها المظاهرات السلمية؛ تشكلت ضمن المنظمة فرق عمل تساهم في عدة مشاريع داعمة للحراك الشعبي وتنقل الأحداث الجارية داخل سوريا إلى كافة أنحاء العالم, حيث يقيم أعضاء هذه المجموعة.
تتلخص أهداف المنظمة على المدى القريب بالاستمرار في دعم كفاح الشعب السوري بوسائل عدة؛ منها خارج سوريا عن طريق نشاطات توعوية إعلامية كتنظيم المظاهرات في مختلف أنحاء العالم والحملات في الإعلام المقروء والمرئي لفضح الأعمال المشينة المرتكبة ضد الشعب السوري, ومنها موجه لدعم الحراك الثوري في الداخل عن طريق تحفيز القسم الصامت من الشعب السوري على التظاهر و المشاركة في المطالبة بالحرية عبر حملات رسائل الإس إم إس والرسائل الصوتية والدوريات المطبوعة, إلى جانب الإشراف على مشاريع دعم لوجستي للناشطين عبر تأمين خدمات الهواتف وأجهزة الانترنت الفضائية. تعمل المجموعة كذلك على توفير الدعم الإغاثي والطبي للسوريين المتضررين في الداخل وفي مخيمات اللاجئين بالدول المجاورة. حالياً تعمل المنظمة على استهداف صناع القرار في المجتمع الدولي لزيادة الدعم اللازم لقضية الشعب السوري وذلك في مختلف المؤسسات والمنظمات المعنية.
أهم أهداف المنظمة على المدى البعيد تتلخص في في دعم طموحات الشعب السوري في تأسيس دولة ديموقراطية تعددية, و إعادة الازدهار إلى سوريا وطننا الأم من خلال نشاطات توعوية وسلمية لتكريس مفهوم المواطنة الذي لطالما افتقده السوريون في العقود الماضية.
